Obituary of CELIA ZULKOSKI
CELIA (ANASTASIA) ZULKOSKI nee FAYKAS
1934-2014
Celia was the youngest of 12 children born to Lena and Peter Faykas. She is survived by
one brother, Alex.
Celia was born in Arbakka, Manitoba and grew up on a farm in Gardenton, Manitoba. As
a teen she moved to Winnipeg with her sister Kaye and soon met Walter and married in
1952.
They were blessed with five children; Valerie (Greg Pidhirniak) with children Jamie,
Kevin and Celia's great grandson Andrew; Joyce (Lyle Tingey), Andrea; Tim (Lorna),
Daniel and Andrew; Randy (Marj), Peter, Katie and Caroline; Karen (Detlef Ams),
Christina and Jennifer.
With a growing family, Celia was an original working mom. She worked nights at Paulin
Chambers and slept very little while tending to 5 active kids. Later on she moved on to
jobs at Christie Biscuits and Merchants Consolidated. Family and caring for others was
everything to Celia. She would always have a hot meal ready and was a wonderful cook.
Celia enjoyed over 51 years of marriage with Walter until his passing in 2004. They were
long standing members of St. John Cantius and later on St. Theresa's Roman Catholic
Churches. They had a wonderful life together going on rides and the farm in Gardenton
always enjoying the company of friends and family.
Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Wednesday, August 20 at 10:00 am at St.
Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, 3597 Main Street with Father Michael Wollbaum
officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
If friends so desire, a donation may be made in Celia's memory towards a charity of
one's choice.
