Obituary of LUCILLE SHIRLEY SCHWARTZ

LUCILLE SHIRLEY SCHWARTZ (nee Pawlowski) 1935 -2014 After a lengthy battle with cancer, Lucille passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Saturday, August 30 with her family at her side. Left to forever cherish her memory are her loving husband Allan, of 58 years; daughter Cindy (Jerry) and their son Steven; daughter Barbara (Ken) and their children Thomas and Andrew; son Gary (Cindy); sister Wanda of San Francisco, sister Gladys of Toronto, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Antony and Adela, one brother Edwin and two sisters, Stella and Roberta, her in laws Jack and Molly and sister-in-law lrene. On April 3, 1935 Lucille was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She married Allan on May 19, 1956. They resided in Winnipeg with many wonderful years spent in the town of Bird's Hill where her children and grandchildren loved to visit and spend many hours especially in the backyard pool during the summer months. Her family, especially her grandchildren were the main focus of her life and she taught them all a great deal. She had a very strong faith and always found the good in everyone. She never complained and remained positive always. She provided loving support and encouragement to all of us. She loved to cook and entertain and up until recently she created beautiful meals for all. Every family event was a celebration. Due to her caring nature she developed many beautiful friendships. She touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Many wonderful years were spent in the Whiteshell when the family was still young. In later years Allan and Lucille looked forward to their annual vacation in Mazatlan, Mexico. When the grandchildren came along, she looked forward to all of the short family getaways, whether it was a trip to the States or time spent at the lake. The family was fortunate enough to travel together on a couple of winter holidays to Mazatlan and Las Vegas. A lot of special family memories were formed. During her lifetime she was always involved in something musically related, had many hobbies, and devoted her time to her church activities. She possessed many artistic abilities and some of her treasured memories were the hours spent with her daughters doing crafts or joining a craft group. She loved all people in general and always found time to volunteer. Lucille had a great appreciation of the theatre. Growing up she performed in many school musicals. She sang with the St. Boniface Diocesan choir as well as the women's group WEST (Women who Enjoy Singing Together). While raising her family she held various part time jobs. When Dad went into business in 1972, she became his devoted business partner helping him with all of the decision making and daily operations. Besides her passion of cooking and creating wonderful meals, she was busy sewing, quilting, reading and gardening. Not long after Mom and Dad retired they moved to the seniors residence in Fort Garry Place where again she volunteered her time, made many friends and joined many of the activities. She especially looked forward to Monday night Bingo and the Tuesday night choir group. We are so thankful for the memories we have of a great wife, Mom and Grandma. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. You will forever remain in our hearts and memories. Special thanks to the staff and palliative care unit at St. Boniface Hospital. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, September 5, at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
