Obituary of PHYLLIS CAROL HALAS
PHYLLIS CAROL HALAS
It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother Phyllis Halas, aged 72, on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Seven Oaks Hospital.
Mom is lovingly remembered by her son Darren Ralke (wife Valerie, daughter Teah).
She also leaves to mourn, her uncles; Ray, Jerry and their families. She is pre-deceased by her mother, Angeline Halas, infant daughter, Terry and uncles; Billy and Nick.
Mom worked very hard starting her work career at Motor Coach Industries, where she worked for nine years, then at Seven Oaks Hospital, Winnipeg School Division No. 1 and Manitoba Sports Federation.
Mom had an incredible sense of humor with the brightest smile that would light up a room. Her twinkling eyes made you stop in your tracks causing you to catch your breathe wondering if you were in trouble or if you were about to get into some mischief with her.
She was a good friend, a strong woman and always did her best with anything she put her mind to.
She was an incredible daughter. She loved her mother very much and took care of her for years never missing a Wednesday date night.
Mom lived a hard life, it was never handed to her on a platter but she made the best of it and even had some fun along the fun. She always carried herself with strength, class and poise.
I never always got along with my mom, maybe we were a little too alike-cut from the same cloth…but I never stopped loving her.
Even when we found out mom fell and was in hospital in June and told of her prognosis, we just couldn’t believe this strong lady would not some how make it through. But this was not the case.
So mom:
Good Byes are often hard to say,
They hurt so very much,
Though you’re gone,
You still remain
In the minds, hearts and lives you’ve touched!
Noella, thank you for your support and friendship to mom.
Maureen thank you for being there for mom, being an incredible friend and sticking with her right to the end. Your years and years of friendship will never be forgotten.
Special thanks to the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital (3rd Floor) for their loving care they gave mom.
