Obituary of CHARLENE MARGARET POLSON

CHARLENE MARGARET POLSON In the early hours of October 18, 2014, Charlene’s struggle with Lewy Body Dementia came to an end. She spent the last five days of her life surrounded by family that loved her and will miss her. Charlene is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Peter, her daughter Laurel (David Yeo), son Kevin, and her only grandchild, Jacynthe. Also left to mourn her passing are her in-laws, Danny Polson, Emily Funk, Jennie Brown, Olga Fedoruk, Gerry Polson (Louise), Johnny Polson (Cathy), Alan Appler (Gloria), and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born on February 4, 1940 and raised in Winnipeg. Over the course of her life she worked at the Grain Growers Company, Coronet Cards, Winnipeg School Division breakfast program, and the CDC Branch of Manitoba Health. She was conscientious, well-organized and helpful, the type of employee any workplace would value. On May 16, 1959 she married Peter Polson and shared a life for more than five decades. Together they raised two children, providing them with a safe, nurturing and loving home. Many, many happy times were enjoyed as a family over the years. Mom was a talented cook and baker, and some of her happiest times were when she prepared delicious meals for her family. She loved to garden and took great pleasure in her plants and apple trees. She enjoyed the opportunity to travel with her family, to see new and different places, and especially appreciated the trips to Victoria, B.C. to visit Kevin. Charlene was a kind and gentle soul, with a generous spirit and nature. She always put her family’s needs before her own. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her sweet girl Jacynthe will miss her Granny very much. We would like to thank Emily, Jennie and Olga for all of their love and support during Moms illness. We know Mom was grateful for their visits and for their concern and prayers. We would also like to thank the compassionate staff on the Elm Unit of Fred Douglas Lodge for making Moms last few months comfortable and for treating her with dignity. A private family reception has been held to celebrate Charlene’s life. We were so blessed to have been part of that life. Love you bunches, Mom. XOXO
