Obituary of SVETISLAV SAVIC
SVETISLAV SAVIC
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, and Deda on November 26, 2014. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Milunka and three daughters Radmila, Barbara(Todd) and Carol(Tony), his adoring grandchildren Vanessa, Lucas, Jordan, Milina, and Leslee. He also leaves to mourn his sister Bosa and sister in law Jagoda. He was predeceased by his brother Jivan whom he cherished. Many will remember him as Kum including Miki, his beloved Godson.
Sveta was born on November 21,1928 in Uzice, Serbia. He served several years in the Yugoslavian Navy and came to Canada in 1960. After working as a welder for many years, he retired from CP Rail in 1990 where he was known as “Smiley”. He lived in his beloved North End, where he was everyone’s neighbour and friend. He was an active member of the St.Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian community for many years. In his spare time, he loved to appreciate nature, whether it was hunting, fishing or walking. He spent his happiest moments with his grandchildren and his cat, Mia.
Due to illness, he spent the last year of his life being tenderly cared for by his adoring wife and daughters, who never left his side. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, laughter and tears from his family and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital who lovingly took care of Dad . Special thanks go to Sharon, who put a smile on their faces every day and to Dr. Tamara Buchel and Dr. Lisa Bonds for their tender and loving care of “Papa” until the end.
According to Sveta’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
