Obituary of LILLIAN B. NIXDORF

LILLIAN B. NIXDORF On December 31, 2014 at the Beacon Hill Lodge, the Lord called Lil Nixdorf home at the age of 97. Lillian was pre deceased by her Husband Buddy of 61 years and her Son Martin. She leaves to morn her daughter Bev Laggo (Gerald) son Ray Nixdorf (Alice), Grandchildren, April, Katrina, Chel, Corey, Michelle, and Kyle, as well as 12 great-grandchildren, sister Elsie and numerous nieces and nephews. Lil, a born again Christian, was born in Winnipeg and grew up on Gallagher Avenue. Her parents frequented Gull Lake Manitoba where they built a cottage in the early 30’s. It was here that Lil met Buddy the love of her life. He was a local boy skilled in building log cottages. Her early married life was lived at Gull Lake. The family moved to Sherridon Manitoba in the early 40’s. Returning to Winnipeg in the mid 40’s to build a house on Scotia Street. Mom spent the next 25 years raising the two boys and one girl who came along eight years after the last son was born. The last sixteen years Mom lived by herself in an Apartment, Thorvaldsons Care Center and finally Beacon Hill Lodge Personal Care home. It was during this time her determination and strong character were displayed in many ways. A celebration of her life will be held at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Thursday January 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Lillian’s name be made to “Missions” in care of Zion Apostolic Church.
