ESTELLE KUTA

Obituary of ESTELLE KUTA

ESTELLE KUTA (MIERZWINSKI) On January 5, 2015, by the bright light of the full moon, Estelle Kuta, 82, passed away at Middlechurch Home with her family by her side. Ruth Esthel Mierzwinski was born in Winnipeg and lived on Bannerman Avenue during her childhood. Estelle had countless memories of the family cottage at Grand Beach – many surrounding the legendary cook stove and involved large meals being prepared during the summer heat. In 1950, Estelle married Joseph Kuta. Soon after their son Gerald was born, they moved to Strathcona Street where Estelle also became the neighbourhood mom to many of Gerry’s friends. During this time, she was very active in the Polish Gymnastic Association Sokol No. 1. Later on, Estelle entered the workforce and served as Administrative Secretary for the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists. Estelle was predeceased by her parents Joseph & Nellie Mierzwinski (Miller), her husband Joseph (1982) and her son Gerry (2011). Mourning her loss are grandsons, Kalan Halladay and Rylan Halladay and daughter-in-law, Deana Halladay of Winnipeg. Thank-you to the doctors, nurses, aides, orderlies, kitchen staff, cleaning staff and volunteers of Middlechurch Home who gently cared for Estelle for the past five years. End of life care givers are truly a gift from God. In keeping with Estelle’s wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. A private interment in Elmwood Cemetery will take place in the Spring. Flowers are gratefully declined.
