My most sincere condolences to his family and friends. Russ was my oldest friend in the world. Our mothers connected us at one or two years old. We played hockey together for the Vince Leah Bruins, he was our goalie, and we went to high school together at Garden City Collegiate. He as so kind and gentle. He was one of the most naturally intelligent and talented people I knew. He came by it naturally and without any ego whatsoever. We worked together at Progressive where he was respected for both his talent and work ethic. Although our paths were separate I always felt connected to him because we'd known each other for so long. A few years ago we reconnected on Facebook and it brought me great happiness to hear from him again. He was a true renaisance man. I understand that he touched many people's lives in a positive way and I'm not surprised in the slightest. A tremendous loss for his family and friends. I will remember him fondly in perpetuity.
Sincerely.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Rusty. Words cannot express the sorrow and sense of loss that is felt by all of those that knew him.
I met Rusty late in October 2013 and within one or two meetings, I knew that Rusty would be a dear friend forever. He was kind, considerate, funny, and very loyal to those he cared about.
Rusty would do anything for his friends, and he was always ready and willing to lend a hand, whether it was building a deck, or assembling a bed, or washing dishes after Sunday Football dinner. And he was always ready to lend an ear and a hug, when a friend was feeling down or going through a difficult time.
Rusty my dear friend, I will miss our weekly text messages, our Sunday afternoons watching football, and in summer, our weekends by the pool with the gang.
You were taken from this earth much too soon, as you had so much more to give and a lifetime of happiness to achieve.
You will live forever in our hearts.

My most sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Rusty. I only met Rusty a few years ago but he quickly became a very close friend. He was a very honourable man, funny, loyal and just an all around great guy.
He and I did a couple of renovation projects together for a mutual friend of ours and I learned a tremendous amount from Rusty - he was a very talented guy and we had an absolute blast working together.
Rusty, my friend, you are already greatly missed and NFL Sundays will never be the same again. You will be forever in my thoughts.
With much love,
Coach
