Obituary of OLGA HELEN SZUMIK
OLGA HELEN SZUMIK
August 23, 1951 – January 18, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Olga at Seven Oaks Hospital.
Olga leaves to mourn mother Antonina; sister Donna (Ted) and niece Marissa. As well as she was a niece, cousin, Godmother, teacher and friend to many.
She was predeceased by her father Mikolaj.
Olga worked at Manitoba Telephone System (High School summers), The Manitoba Youth Centre (University years) and as a teacher. Her first year was spent with the Evergreen School Division then with the Winnipeg School Division #1 for almost 40 years.
Olga did not have children but every student she taught she considered her own.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital emergency department and especially those on the 5th floor, unit 1, who made sure she was comfortable during her final days.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, January 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m. also at the Chapel with Very Rev. Archpriest Michael Skrumeda officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 820 Burrows Avenue or the Children’s Heritage Fund-Winnipeg School Division.
Olga, you will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten. May you rest in peace.
