Obituary of CHRIS BAUR
With hearts and souls shattered to the point of disrepair, we are forced to say goodbye of our boy, Christophur.
The world lost a gentle caring man on January 3, 2015. It will be a sad place without him in it. Chris was born on May 31, 1978, to parents Kim and Tom of Winnipeg. Always a beautiful baby, he grew into a stunningly handsome man. He was not only blessed with looks but had a keen intellect, a thirst for knowledge, a wry sense of humour, and the most envious skill of all, an intuitive understanding of people and their needs. He was what anyone needed him to be - if you needed a listening ear, he would listen; a tactician, he would advise; a babysitter he would babysit; to some he was a date, a jokester, a boss, even a D.J. He was an uncle to all his friend's and family's children. But most important of all, if you needed love, he would give it freely. He made all people in all walks of life want to be his friend. He saw life through a rosy glass. He always looked for the good in people. His charismatic personality made him life long friends with many. He was always there to share their victories, their losses, their joy. And we, we were allowed to share his joy in life, his exuberance, his triumph over many obstacles in his life's journey. People who had Chris in their life were blessed. He was the ultimate friend to everyone.
Chris lived with Tourettes Syndrome all his life. He had trouble verbalizing. He never gave up. He researched his disease; lived with it; overcame it; won awards in high school for public speaking; took a communications degree at RRCC. He was a force to be reckoned with.....
And yet, he died alone. Unexpected. Unprotected. Unsuspecting. A death he did not deserve. And his family will have a hard time understanding forever.
Chris leaves behind to mourn his beloved mom, Kim (mom, mom, mom, mom), sister Shanna, brothers Shane and Chaz.
As a family, we welcome anyone who knew Chris and had the opportunity to bask in his special aura to share in a celebration about him. Laughter, tears of joy and love are all welcome. Please leave your anger and hatred at home. Chris would not have welcomed them.
A Celebration of Life is to be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada.
