LORRAINE YASINSKY

Obituary of LORRAINE PHYLIS YASINSKY

LORRAINE PHYLIS YASINSKY (NEE PRYSTUPA) April 11, 1942 – April 12, 2015 It is with Profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother and Baba Lorraine. One day into her 73rd year of life. She leaves behind to cherish in memories her loving husband of 52 years Nick, Children: Leslie (Charlene), Dwayne, Jody (Jennifer), Shannon Grandchildren Braeden, Paige, and Tristan. She also leaves behind her siblings Amel (Marlene), Ann, Ted, Eugene (Mavis), Raymond, Rodney (Arlene), Brother in law Harold, Sisters in law Rosalie, Audrey and Godson Gerald (Carol) numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by grandson Brett Yasinsky, her parents Tom & Minnie Prystupa, brother Larry Prystupa, sister Lynn Langrell, brother in law Harold Severson, sisters in law Caroll Prystupa & Anne Prystupa, nephew Brent Prystupa, father and mother in law Alex and Lena Yasinsky as well as other beloved family and friends. Lorraine was born the 2nd of 9 children. She was taught so many things by her own mother from gardening to cooking to playing the accordion to Bingo. She was kind, gentle, compassionate, caring and patient. She was also loving, funny and honest. I guess having so many younger siblings gave her the magic touch with kids and she could never get enough of them. She had watched from her younger cousins to their children, to her nieces and nephews to their children and she lived for her own children and grandchildren. She had a knack for kids of any age. Would spoil them at any chance she would get. From a walk to McDonalds for treats or magic bus ride or making something in the kitchen with them. But no matter what it was or how long she had with them there was always Love and laughter. Mom had such love for family and friends. Although she didn’t have her driver’s licence that didn’t stop her from borrowing dad’s car to go play cards. Another Love in mom’s life. She would also pedal her behind on her bike or bus over to the other end of the City if need be. If all that wasn’t going to work for her she would just make plans to go visiting and break it to dad at the last minutes. He never liked it but she would get away with it every single time. She would and could play cards or dice or do just about anything to spend time with friends or family and laugh to the wee hours of the next morning. She also enjoyed her trips to the casinos. 50 below outside doesn’t stop her right? Or her trying to sneak in after a trip to the casino by taking her shoes off outside as she leans on the doorbell. Mom also had a love for Country music and travelled with friends and family from as close as the Red River Ex in Winnipeg, Gimli, Manitoba, Craven, Saskatchewan, Detroit Lakes and I won’t ever forget Fisher River Trip to see Mr. Johnny Reid. She had already been in need of her walker and we were Blessed and had the opportunity to meet him. Well don’t you know that was the fastest she had moved in years. He, being the kind and caring artist he is told her don’t worry Darlin’ I’ll come down to meet you. She just as quick as her steps said no I’m okay I’ll come on your bus to you I can do it. Such good times and Amazing memories made on all these trips. Special thanks must be said to Doctors Patel, Zubert and staff who cared for mom at the Seven Oaks hospital, especially the 4th floor unit 7 staff, for their care during this final visit.” As well Very Special Thanks go out to all the, Health Care Workers, Nurses, and Recreation Staff from the Maples Nursing Home where they not only were care givers they became family to all of us. Also Ginger the Nursing home cat who scared mom on more than a few occasions by jumping on her bed. There was talk of her coming back in spirit to get him back if only just once. Thank you to Father Michael Kwiatkowski for doing the service. Marianne Propp for the reading, Trina Tully for doing the Eulogy, Don Babey and the Staff of Cropo Funeral Chapel. The outpouring of Love and Support through text messages, facebook messages, facebook posts, emails, phone calls and visits has been overwhelming. Thank you to all those who called or came to the Nursing home and Hospital especially in mom’s final days. You simply cannot buy that kind of Love with any amount of money. In accordance with Lorraine’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Private Family Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers you may choose to make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, CancerCare, MADD or a charity of your choice.
