Obituary of MICHAEL JOHN HOGAN
MICHAEL JOHN HOGAN
With grateful hearts for the 93 years we were able to get to know and love this wonderful man, we announce Michael John Hogan’s passing on April 12, 2015.
Known affectionately to most as Uncle Jack, Hogie, MJ or Jack, he was a true gentlemen, dutiful son, brother, uncle, and friend. After working at Manitoba Pool Elevators, Jack ventured out on his own and eventually became a prominent figure in the automotive business. Over his lifetime, Jack invigorated communities where special memories and life-long friendships were made,a condo in Florida as a winter retreat; MJ Ranch, 500 acres with a herd of cattle, several horses and a thriving garden; St. Charles Country Club; as well as a fishing camp at George Lake, a place for us to remember him and allow us to create new memories in his honour.
It is hard to put into words the tremendous impact he had on each of us. Uncle Jack was loved by us all and most appreciated for his devotion to family, kind heartedness, generosity, unimposing counsel and model strength of character. Jack embraced life to the fullest, hardworking, steadfast, with wit and always with integrity, enjoying the rustic outdoors and tackling handyman projects wherever possible. He loved to swing a golf club or a hammer, go fishing and savour a cold beer over a game of dominoes.
Left to forever cherish his memory are sisters Mary Lamond and Helen McMurray, Pauline’s sons and families, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends too numerous to name but not forgotten. Jack will be reunited with his beloved partner Pauline Shannon, mother, Helen, father, William, sisters Frances Gordon and Barbara Read, brothers-in-law, George Read and Bill McMurray, and nephews Edmund Read and Rodney Gordon.
Led by Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road, Windsor Park. Reception will follow.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff at River Ridge Retirement Residence and all of the Home Caregivers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
We were blessed to have you in our lives and you’ll be forever in our hearts.
