Obituary of IDA CHRISTINE LAMIRANDE

IDA CHRISTINE LAMIRANDE (nee Chartrand) Early Thursday morning, an Angel came and took the hand of our mother, Ida to begin her spiritual journey. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many. With family by her side at the St. Boniface Hospital, Ida passed away on April 16th, 2015 at the age of 92 and was the last of her family's siblings. Left to cherish her memory, are her daughters Shirley (Brian), Verna (Allan), Agnes, Linda (Raymond), Annette (Lionel), Loretta (Andy), Anita (Mike), Janice and son Brian (Myrna) and adopted son (grandson) Clifford (Candy), along with many grandchildren (over 50), great-grandchildren (over 60) and nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, sister Bernadette, brother Cyril, son Ernie, daughters Myrtle and Vera, adopted son (grandson) Batch, and sons-in-law Ron, Hugh, and Rod. Ida was born on January 19, 1923 in Duck Bay, Manitoba and was a proud Métis woman, who had a passion to raise her family with her heart and hands. With her husband Bill, they moved to Winnipeg in 1966 where she instilled many family values, principles and teachings that helped her children along their own life path. Ida was a stay at home mom and was very well known for her ability to cook, sew and clean, which she applied everyday while caring for her husband and children. Although, she never worked outside her home, mom worked very hard inside her home making sure everyone was well cared for and taken care of, and making many unselfish acts of kindness which were priceless. After her husband passed away, her children became her world and she would spend tireless amounts of time making sure they had a loving, caring, and supportive home. The family would like to thank the nurses and care team at the Windsor Park Supportive Housing for providing mom with kindness and support during her stay. We would also like to thank Dr. Jose and the many nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital for their special care and compassion in support of our mom's wishes. In addition, we would like to acknowledge Dr. Keugle for his many years of being mom's physician and taking such great care of her as his patient. A celebration of Ida's life will start with prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Cropo Funeral Chapel - 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. On Wednesday, April 22, 2015 Mass will be held at 11:00 am at St. Anthony's Parish, 250 Burrin Avenue, Winnipeg with burial ceremony at Brookside Cemetery.
