Obituary of VIOLA FRANCEY

VIOLA FRANCEY In the early morning of Oct 31, 2011, peacefully in her sleep, Viola Francey, (nee Arnason) passed away at the Queensway Carlton Hospital, in Ottawa, Ontario, at age 83. Vi will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters Colleen Crocker and Mary Redman (Steve), her grandchildren, Jack Crocker, Kimberly (Rob), Ryan Francey (Jenna),Trina Everall, great grandchildren, Taylor and Serena Crocker, Danica and Tristen (Kimberly and Rob’s children), Benjamyn and Ashton Francey, and Emma Leigh (Trina’s child), her sisters Petrina (Ena) Cordes and Marion Wiebe, her many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and her dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, son Danny and daughter-in-law Rosan, her partner of many years, Slim Everall, her four brothers and her parents. Vi was the proprietor of the family business, Arnason’s cabins in Gimli Manitoba for many years until she retired in 1986. After their retirement, Vi and Slim shared their winters down in Texas and spent the summers back home in Manitoba. Vi had a talent for crafts and could be found knitting the hours away creating beautiful Icelandic sweaters as well as special things for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be well remembered for her yearly garage sales. Preparations for these kept her busy and active. In 2008 Vi moved to Ottawa where she lived with her daughter Colleen. Family and friends are invited to join us for a memorial service to celebrate her life. The service will take place at 11:00 a.m, Friday November 4th at the Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations, if friends so desire, may be made in Viola’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation.
