Obituary of JOZEF BIERNACKI
JOZEF BIERNACKI
Born: February 4, 1928
Date of Passing: May 5, 2015
With profound sadness we announce the passing our beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Jozef Biernacki passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 87 years.
He was predeceased by his sisters Barbara and Irena and brothers Kazimierz and Andrzej and daughter Malgorzata.
He is survived by his wife Zenobia, son Tadeusz (Anna), daughter Elzbieta, grandchildren Beata, Andrzej, Kasia, Ania, Hubert, Lukasz, great-grandchildren Monika, Damian, Natalia, Paola as well as extended family and many friends.
Jozef was born in Koniecpol and lived in Czestochowa, Poland where he worked as a tailor. He immigrated to Canada in 1988 and became involved in the polish community.
Music was very important to him; he loved singing and was a member of “Pochodnia” men’s choir in Czestochowa and “Sokol” Polish Folk Ensemble in Winnipeg. He also became the founder and president of the I.J.Paderewski – Polish Music Society. His devotion to the church led to founding and leading the Winnipeg Branch of John Paul II Foundation and Friends of KUL (Catholic University of Lublin). As a result of his unwavering commitment he was decorated with an Order of St. Sylwester in 2002 and an Order of John Paul II in 2015. He was also a member of the “Sokol” Gymnastic Association, Polish Congress, and Knights of Columbus.
Jozef's pride and joy in life was spending time with his family here in Canada and in Poland. Jozef will be remembered for his unconditional love and giving nature to everyone around him. His kindness will never be forgotten.
