Obituary of MINNIE PRESTON

MINNIE PRESTON (nee Owsianyk) It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow to announce her passing at the age of 93. Minnie was born in Winnipeg, April 16, 1922. Minnie was a very special woman with a big heart and a great sense of humour. She was always positive, generous and had kind words for everyone. She was long retired from Peerless Garments where she was employed as a specialized machine operator. Minnie loved children and her passions were baking and gardening. Minnie was loved and will be greatly missed! She was predeceased by her beloved husband William Preston and her brothers Peter and William Owsianyk, and her best friend and sister in-law Pearl Owsianyk, whom with Minnie, could always be spotted together out shopping. Minnie leaves to mourn her passing, nephews Peter, Johnny, Richard and Andrew Owsianyk, their spouses, and many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the people that were helpful in caring for her over the last year which are too numerous to name. A special thanks to her niece Brenda Owsianyk who was not only Minnie's primary caregiver, but also her closest companion and friend. Funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Church at 365 Burrows Ave. in Winnipeg on Friday May 15, 2015 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, donations can be made at the church for the Nepal earthquake disaster relief fund in her honour.
