Obituary of MARY JANE WEITZEL

MARY JANE WEITZEL Early Saturday morning, May 9, 2015 with family at her side. Mary Jane was the loving daughter of her late parents Fred and Cathy Weitzel, sister of Peter and Paul, and beloved aunt of Chela, Lia, Byron and Kelly. Mary Jane has always lived in East Kildonan, North Kildonan and East St Paul and was well known throughout the area, especially through her work as a local dental assistant. Mary Jane was a committed and constant friend, an assiduous worker and possessed a creative intelligence which she applied not only to her work but also to her crafts, indeed to all her endeavours. She had a quiet determination, was strongly independent and showed kindness and generosity to all. She was practical, defied gender role restrictions and had a deep love of nature. She was deeply appreciative of the generous support that she received, especially from her cousins Peter and Irene deGraaf and Chloe Delbigio, during her long months battling cancer. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment has been held. If friends wish, a memorial contribution may be made to the Historic Elmwood Cemetery.
