BASIL (BILL) KUSZNIERYK
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Bill on June 1, 2015.
Bill was born on July 3, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was educated at Lord Nelson Elementary School, Faraday Junior High and Isaac Newton High School. He attended the Winnipeg School of Art during the Junior and Senior School terms and later, the Facility of Fine Arts at the University of Manitoba.
Bill was employed by the Manitoba Telephone System from 1952 and retired on July 3, 1987 with 35 years of service with the outside plant engineering department.
Bill was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centres, the Canadian Ukrainian Institute Prosvita, the Telephone Pioneers America Chapter 50 and Donor Member of the Holy Family Nursing Home Foundation.
Bill will be missed by his lifelong close friends George and Lydia Kuryk, Ted and Irene Pomes, Goddaughter Catherine Mary Kuryk and very dear beloved close friend and partner Shirley Pierson.
He was predeceased by mother Ann on May 10, 1986; father Michael on April 10, 1994; grandparents Sophie and Zarcharko Muzychka; uncles William and Michael Muzik and aunt Alice.
Prayers will be said on Friday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Avenue. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
