Obituary of REZSO (JOE) JOZSEF CSUPAK
REZSO (JOE) CSUPAK
Although it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rezso (Joe) Csupak, on June 9th, 2015, at Lions Personal Care Center, we rejoice in knowing he is reunited with the love of his life, Julia.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his two sons Zoltan (Elaine) and Arch (Sandra Shaw) Csupak; adoring and loving grandchildren Kristen (Derick), Andrew, Erika, James, Brian (Rhianna), and Jennifer; Great-grandson Tristan; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends. Joe was predeceased by his wife and soulmate Julia Csupak, and parents Rezso and Margit.
Rezso was born on February 10th,1928, in Mosonmagyarovar, Hungary. Soon after his birth, his father passed away and he was raised as an only child by his mother Margit. He later moved to Budapest, Hungary, where he met his one true love, Julia. In 1956 during the revolution, they fled Hungary to come to Canada in order to build a better life for their family and ultimately settled in Winnipeg. Joe’s goals were to build a good life for his family, and to have a family that was close. To say he exceeded his goals would be an understatement. For years he worked two jobs with very little time for a personal life, but when it came to family he always made time; especially for the grandchildren.
Joe worked at Federal Pioneer Electric for 30 years. He was also a handyman who was always found tinkering in his workshops, loved fishing, built the family cottage, and was an avid gardener. Family visits were sure to bring home-cooked Hungarian food. His love for his wife was evident with every visit, and was felt by all who knew him. After 59 years of marriage, Julia passed away; the heartbreak was palpable and his life was never the same.
Apu/Papa, we cannot thank you enough for everything you brought into our lives. Although we are broken hearted you’ve left us, we are at peace knowing you are once again with Anyu/Nanny.
The family would like to extend thanks to the home care staff of Concordia Village (with special thanks to Paul), and staff of the second floor of Lions Personal Care Centre who took great care of Joe, and who made themselves easily accessible to our family. A special thanks to Preetha for all your coordination and diligent care, and Dawn, Patrick, Lori-Ann and Shelley who made his days brighter with their caring and enthusiasm for life. We appreciate that you always checked in on our family during visits. You made all the difference. Thank you.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, June 15 at 1:00pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
