ANNA "TONI" BARTMAN nee Antoniuk As written by Anna Bartman: Born near Winnipeg, at Cabot MB, received her education at suburban schools, United College, (University of Winnipeg) University of Manitoba, St. Boniface School of Nursing and Post Graduate Surgery, Minneapolis Minn. USA. Throughout her lifetime she had a profound appreciation for classical music, having studied voice, pianoforte and theory and earned diplomas from The Royal Academy of Music, London England and the University of Toronto Conservatory of Music. Always interested in sports, she was an outstanding athlete excelling at track and field and was the recipient of many awards. At University she was awarded the Senior Athletic Letters, in recognition of her achievements. After marriage she was actively involved in the Hotel industry, with her late husband. During her lifetime she maintained a keen interest in business and finance and was elected to and served on the Executive of investment clubs. In 1963 she resumed her nursing career and progressed from Casual duty to the position of Supervisor. During this period she was instrumental in organizing the nursing staff at the Heal Sciences Centre (Winnipeg General Hospital) and subsequently were successful in receiving their certification. She represented the Provincial Council and the Health Sciences Centre on the Negotiating Committee when they bargained contracts with the Manitoba Hospital Commission. She was elected to and served on the Education Committee. After retiring from nursing she received an appointment from the Executive Director of the Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses and served on the Awards Committee. ln 1971 she enlisted in the Militia and served as a Nursing Officer with the 18th Medical Coy, and was proud that her contribution enabled their First Aid team to be awarded the Ryerson Trophy, emblematic of the best First Aid team in Canada. Predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1994, twin daughter Mary, her parents Justyna and George and her brother William. Service to be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at 11.00a.m., June 20th 2015. After the service, entombment in the Mausoleum in All Saints Cemetery. Luncheon to follow upstairs at Cropo.
