Obituary of SAMUEL ERMET
SAMUEL EDWARD ERMET
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Samuel Edward Ermet (Ted), 81 years, on June 6, 2012 at Concordia Hospital.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis, daughter Laurie (Glenn), son Todd (Rosemary), grandchildren Ryan, Danny, Sara and Trevor. Also, his sister Mary Holzer (Mpls), brother John (Edmonton), sisters-in-law Rose Popowich, Vera Sikomas, Sonia Sikomas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted was predeceased by his mother Mary, father Samuel, sister Margaret, several brothers-in-law Tom Russell, Joseph and Walter Sikomas.
Ted lived all his life in the Elmwood, East and North Kildonan area. As a young man, he was active in many sports, achieving all-star fame in Lacrosse (Elmwood Terriers) as well as hockey.
His career began with the C. P. R. Weston Shops, starting as a Carman apprentice, and rising to Assistant Car Shop Foreman.
Ted's passion and joy was in building, culminating in a family cottage at Falcon Lake, where many joyful family dinners and events were held.
Ted was honest, hard working, caring, compassionate and definitely a family and people person.
Throughout his many fierce health battles, Ted remained positive, upbeat and never lost his determination to continue on with his life.
His strength, love and devotion to his family are still alive even after his passing. He will be loved and missed forever.
Special thanks to the Russell boys, particularly Tom, who was always there for us and also Jordan Popowich for the beautiful video tribute.
A private funeral service was held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, on Tuesday, June 12, with burial at All Saints Cemetery.
