Obituary of JOYCE STONOGA
JOYCE STONOGA
(nee GRENDA)
It is with love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Stonoga on May 29, 2015. Joyce quietly passed away at age 89, at the Residence at Morgan Heights care home in Surrey, BC. She is survived by her son David (Sandera) and grandchildren, Graeme and Reid of White Rock, BC, Rebecca of San Carlos, California and longtime companion John Zado. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1977 and her son Ron in 2014.
Joyce came to Canada in 1937 and at a young age participated in Ukrainian cultural events. She acted in plays but it was her beautiful voice that would be her legacy. She continued singing into her 80's, mostly with the AUUC (Association of United Ukrainians Canadians) choir. She loved music till the day she passed. She was well respected for her musical talents by her peers and other choir members. Joyce was a loving, caring mother and a considerate supporting wife and will be missed by all that knew her.
