Obituary of SUSAN CAROL HORODYSKA
After a courageous battle, leaves her devoted husband, and love of her life, Laurie Todd.
He was a most exceptional care giver. She also leaves her loving step-daughter Aiden Todd and grand-daughter Ryleigh Todd Moore.
Predeceased by her mother, Alma Horodyski, leaves her father, William Horodyski, her six siblings Grace Grindean (Michael Grindean), Mary Horodyski (Sandy Shewchuk), Bernie Horodyski (Barb Bebee), Bill Horodyski (of Calgary), Donna Ellis (Jack Ellis) of Oakville, Ontario, and Sandy Lymycz (widow of Bill Lymycz). She leaves seven nieces and nephews, including Godchild Alexis Hildalh (nee Lymycz), and four great nieces and nephews, as well as friends and colleagues.
Susan attained her BA in Art History from U of W, and while working full-time at the Women's Enterprise Centre of Manitoba, achieved her BFA from U of M in 2013. As a
student, she won a university level international competition in photography held in Toronto, and was in two group exhibitions in Toronto involving other emerging artists. Having just graduated, she was excited to work independently on her art.
One of her greatest joys was to travel with her husband Laurie to see art exhibitions in Canada and the United States. She had looked forward to doing the same with him in Europe in the coming years.
She loved all animals, especially her close canine companion, Luna (died in 2013 at the age of 15), adopted from the Winnipeg Humane Society. She also enjoyed yoga and
walking, whether it be taking long strolls in the city or hiking on travels.
Never one for public ceremony, Susan did not want a service. However, if donations were made in her memory to the Farm Animal Welfare Committee at the Winnipeg Humane Society (45 Hurst Way, R3T 0R3), where she volunteered, would be deeply and graciously felt.
Thank you to the exceptional doctors, nurses, palliative care team, support staff, and social worker - at CancerCare Manitoba and GD 3 at HSC that Susan met along the way. A special thank you to Dr. James Bolton at HSC, for walking the path with her.
