Mom lived a healthy life, it was only recently that she had been hospitalized and was unable to come due to health issues. Mom had so many talents, she worked as a seamstress, but also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, canning, and baking. She also loved her volunteer work with Great West Life, for fourteen years she dressed dolls for the Christmas hampers, Mom knitted approximately 700 outfits for the dolls, 50 per year. Mom started this when her niece Charlotte bought home a doll to dress for the Staff club's annual doll dressing contest, she told Charlotte "I have wool can I dress some dolls too", and this how it started, she won prizes for her dolls that year and every year after that. One year she took all three runner up prizes; in 1983 one of her dolls was christened "Miss Merry Christmas"-the best doll of the year. Although the contest was discontinued in 1990, Mom continued to knit and dress dolls for the company's hampers for many years, in addition to the dolls she knitted scarves, toques and mittens for the Salvation Army. In closing the family wants to thank the staff at the Concordia Hospital and Charleswood home for the care they provided for Mom, it is greatly appreciated!!
