Obituary of BERNICE MARY WILLIAMS
BERNICE MARY WILLIAMS (nee Lustay [Lustej )
1924 – 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Bernice Williams peacefully in her sleep on July 29, 2015 at the age of 91 years.
Forever cherishing her memory are her children daughter Noreen (Terry), sons Brian and Bruce, 13 grandchildren (Michael, Mario, Marianna, Michelle, Matthew, Marie-Francis, Marie-Rose, Elise, Colette, Kailan, Toby, Hailea and Austin), 22 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Sidor and Tatianna Lustay (Lustej), her husband Austin, daughter Denise, brother Steve and sister Evelyn.
Bernice was born January 15, 1924 in Stead, Manitoba where she grew up before moving to Winnipeg at the age of 15. She worked for a few years as a housekeeper, switchboard operator and elevator operator before she settled into her career as a homemaker to her four children and husband. Bernice was proud to be a 35 year member of the Third Order of St. Francis and a member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years. Bernice will be forever remembered for her homemade hanger toaster, bowl of scotch dinner mints, tin of cookies out of our reach, a chocolate bar in your birthday card, saving every picture of your favorite item, and her big inviting and gentle warm hugs.
