Obituary of ELSIE L. SEMENIUK
ELSIE L. SEMENIUK
(Simmons)
May 29, 1925 – August 4, 2015
Aunt Elsie decided it was time to move on. After all, she was 90 years old! She was predeceased by her parents, Maksym and Olena Semeniuk, her brother William Semeniuk and her sister Isabelle Sokolowski. Elsie is survived by her sister, Anne Davey, and nieces and nephews: Jo-Anne Baccus (Bob), Barbara Sokolowski, Richard Sokolowski (Cathy), Donna Scharikow, and Brian Sokolowski; Janice Oruck (Gary) of Mississauga, Ont., Gary Davey and Gregg Davey (Bunny), as well as several great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
Aunt Elsie spent her early years in Canada and, after travelling, settled in Minneapolis as a legal secretary for Faegre and Benson.
Elsie had many interests. The arts topped the list. She was a tour guide at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, which led her to painting for her amusement and
amazement! Her sewing machine turned out suits, handbags and lingerie. We cannot leave out her gourmet cooking! The highlight of her trip to Europe was attending the Cordon Bleu in Paris. In recent times, Elsie enjoyed her bowling buddies and lunching with the “gourmet ladies”.
To her family, Aunt Elsie was an elegant and “fun” free spirit. She loved being with young people and they enjoyed her company. She was also an animal lover. Aunt Elsie was always very generous with her family and was the life of the party at all family events! She was a great lady and will be dearly missed.
