Obituary of ANNIE (ANN) LOBUR
March 25, 1921 – September 6, 2015
Annie Lobur, formerly of Woodmore, MB, entered into eternal rest at the Holy Family Nursing Home on Sunday, September 6, 2015 in her 95th year.
Annie is the last sibling of the late Stefan and Maria (Andrusyk), who immigrated from the Zalischyky region of Ukraine in the late 1890’s, also predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law. She was born in Senkiw, Municipality of Franklin, on March 25, 1921. As a young child, she lived and attended school in Winnipeg before returning with her parents to the original family farm in Senkiw, where she completed her education. She married William (Bill) Lobur on May 24, 1941 at St. Mary the Protectress Cathedral (Sobor) in Winnipeg. They commenced farming in the Woodmore area, a truly hard working era that took them until the late 1970’s: building their own home and farm buildings, of which they were very proud. Both while working diligently, were active with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Nativity (Senkiw) as well as educational and cultural activities.
Annie was predeceased by William in May 1999. They were blessed with one daughter Olga, who also predeceased her in February 2004. Annie continued to reside in her farm home. Her past time was her exceptional embroidery including wall crosses, Easter basket covers, blouses for her daughter, granddaughters and herself, shirts and three complete sets of vestments for her son-in-law. She also maintained her garden, flower beds and grooming the yard until just a few years ago, with her failing health she had to take up residence at the Holy Family Home in 2010.
She is survived by her son-in-law Very Rev. Mitred Michael Skrumeda, granddaughter Laura (Jason), great grandson Jaydon Sawby of Maple Creek, SK and granddaughter Tanya Nichols and great-grandchildren Michael and Hailey of Windsor, ON. Also surviving are God-children, nephews, nieces and sister-in-law.
Funeral Rite will be celebrated at St. Mary the Protectress Cathedral, 820 Burrows Ave, Winnipeg on Saturday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. with reception to follow. Interment will take place at the Senkiw Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Presiding will be Very Rev. Fr. A. Harkavyi assisted by Very Rev. Fr. M. Pozniak and local clergy.
We express our appreciation to Dr. Taras Babick and Dr. Andrea Babick, staff and attendants of 4A at Holy Family Home and friends for the care, support, encouragement and visits.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nativity of St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Senkiw, c/o Pat Gawronsky, P.O. Box 24, Roseau River, MB or St. Mary the Protectress Cathedral, c/o Bernice Chimuk, 820 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
