MARYANN PROCIUK

Obituary of MARYANN PROCIUK

MARYANN PROCIUK (NEE SHERMAN) MaryAnn passed away peacefully at the age of 69 years on October 10, 2015 at home surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her beautiful heart, sincerity and spirited life will always be cherished by her beloved husband John; son Darryl and wife Lynne, grandchildren Samantha and Matthew; daughter Michele and husband Graeme, grandchildren Liam and Aiden; daughter Janine and husband Lei, grandchild on the way. MaryAnn is survived by her brother Peter and wife Gail, children Larissa and Stephen; brother Norm and wife Jan; aunt Jean Sherman; many cousins, nieces and nephews. After they were married in 1967 they started a family and together raised three children who brought them great joy and endless love. MaryAnn was devoted to her family, and family gatherings were a highlight of her life. Her kitchen was always welcoming to anyone who visited. Mom and Dad had a beautiful life together, enjoying family, friends and travelling to many parts of the world. She was a strong Catholic and faithfully recited the rosary daily for most of her life, long-time member of the Holy Eucharist Church, and an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, for many years, serving in various positions. MaryAnn enjoyed gardening (especially her flowers), baking, cooking, reading, as well as spending time with family and friends. Though we will greatly miss her, we are blessed to have her love, kindness, giving and selfless nature. MaryAnn was last employed with Federated Insurance for 23 years. There she formed many lasting friends and kept friendships even after she retired. MaryAnn was predeceased by her parents Anne and Alex. Our family would like to express our deepest thanks to the staff of Concordia Oncology, CancerCare Manitoba and Palliative Care for their compassion and care and for all those who have prayed for her health, for their visits, get well cards, and the health care workers that came to cheer her up and made her life a little better. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Church (located at the corner of Watt and Munroe), with a reception to follow at the Holy Eucharist Parish Center. A private interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to the charity of your choice. “GRIEF IS THE PRICE WE PAY FOR LOVE.”
