Obituary of JAMES MAURICE JONES
JAMES MAURICE JONES
(Jim or Big Jim) Passed on November 1, 2015
Jim was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire UK on June 9, 1930 and evacuated to North Wales during WWII, where he met Miriam Roberts, the love of his life and partner for 60 yrs. They were world travelers before settling in West St. Paul MB in 1957. Jim worked in construction, eventually owning his own business. He was a true Jack of All Trades. An avid horseman, trainer at Assiniboia Downs, showing hunter jumpers, Jim attended many horse events. A good day for Jim was: living room, soccer and a Guinness while cheering for Liverpool! Vacations to Florida and Cuba were among his favorites. The sea always fascinated him.
Jim's wife Miriam, son Gerry (Kristine), daughter Janeen (Florent) Rivard; grandchildren Justin (Mallory) Jones, Ryan (Nicole) Rivard, Shane Jones, Rae Ann Rivard; great grandchildren Sidney Rivard & Jayden Jones; all will miss his presence in their lives. Also left to mourn are his brother Geoffrey (Pauline) from Wales, sister Dorothy Clarke and sister in law Joyce Jones from Toronto, ON. Jim was predeceased by his parents Cyril & Violet Jones, sister Margery Arrowsmith, brothers Steve & Gerry Jones, & brother in law Frank Clarke. Jim left this world a better place with his great attitude, adventurous spirit, kind heart and kickin' sense of humour right to the end.
The family wish to thank Seven Oaks Hospital & Palliative Care for their support. Thanks to all friends for the visits.
"You will never walk alone" CHEERS Jim! Donations in memory of Jim can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or online at mb.lung.ca
As per Jim's wishes, private family interment is planned.
