Obituary of CAROL DAVIES

CAROL DAVIES Peacefully, at the age of 75, on October 31, 2011 at St Boniface Palliative Care. Devoted daughter of Roy and Kathleen (Kitty) Davies, Carol graduated from St Mary’s Academy, enjoyed a long, media-centered career at CJAY-TV, CJOB and CBC, and lived most of her life in her childhood home. Carol was a person of endless compassion and unwavering faith. From her keen sense of fashion to her meticulous embroidery, Carol loved to be around beautiful things and her care and attention to detail shone in every area of her life, including her lovely West-end home and family cottage at Clear Lake. She was also not shy to share her mind and her wry humour, wit, and style was wonderful to be around. Carol was always a passionate advocate for the most vulnerable amongst us, and a long and lucky series of pet-rescue dogs had the good fortune to spend their last years under her loving and watchful care. Above all, Carol cherished the friendship of family, neighbours and friends. How lucky we were to hear her say she’d had a wonderful life, recounting some extraordinary tale and exclaiming, "Wasn’t that lovely!" Thank you to Dr. Patricia Harris and to the 8th floor Palliative Care staff at St Boniface Hospital for so beautifully easing Carol’s journey. Special thanks to cousins Christine (Pat) Gannon, Chris (Rob Shaw) Krawchenko, and Carol (Ray) Hutchinson-Peters. Carol could not have had better health-care advocates and you generously filled a myriad of roles. To the many neighbours, family and friends who supported Carol, thank you. Memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, November 12 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
