Obituary of OLGA MACIOROWSKI
OLGA MACIOROWSKI
May 26, 1918 - October 25, 2015
It is with sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Babcia, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, at 97 years on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at St Paul Lutheran Home in Melville Saskatchewan. Olga was predeceased by a daughter, Kristyna, in infancy and by her husband, Roman, in 2005.
Born May 26th, 1918 in Sanok, Poland, Olga was one of eleven children. Olga lived and worked on a farm in rural Poland until the start of World War II. During the war she was transferred to Germany where she also worked on a farm and where she met her future husband, Roman. They wed at the end of the war and soon after moved to Belgium where Roman took a job as a coal miner and Olga gave birth to their son Chester. They immigrated to Canada in 1951, sailing to St. John, New Brunswick then on to Montreal by rail where daughter Mary was born. The following year they relocated to Winnipeg where daughter Helen was born. Mom raised a young family in addition to working various jobs in and around Winnipeg. Mom and dad worked diligently all their lives so their children could have a better life; a work ethic they instilled in their children.
Mom was a wonderful homemaker and was known in the neighbourhood for her chocolate cake and special birthday tortes. She had a green thumb and grew beautiful, lush flower and vegetable gardens. She taught herself to crochet, knit and sew and created some wonderful pieces that adorned her home and the homes of friends. Olga and Roman made several visits back to Poland but there was no place like home in Winnipeg. They lived in gratitude all their lives for the life they enjoyed in Canada. In later years when they could no longer manage on their own, they moved to Melville, Saskatchewan where daughter Helen and family lived and where they remained until their passing.
Olga leaves behind her children Chester (Heather), Mary (Barry) and Helen (Doug); grandchildren Michael (Becky), Shawna (Dennis), Reid (Sarah), Kelsey (Davis), Ben (Hannah), and Brady (Leanne); great-grandchildren Olivia, Emerson, Everly and Heike.
A Funeral mass and burial were held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Winnipeg on November 2, 2015.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St Paul Lutheran Home for their kindness and excellent care extended to our mother.
You asked for so little and gave so much. Rest in peace Mom.
