Obituary of JOAO MACEDO ESTEVES CARVALHO
Joao Macedo Esteves de Carvalho
On Dec 22, 2015 the beloved husband to Constanca, loving father to Clara (Edgar) and Cristina, adoring grandfather to Angelina and Julia, quietly passed away at the tender age of 76 surrounded by his family.
He also leaves to mourn his sister Ilidia, many sisters in law and brothers in law in Portugal and Canada, and countless nieces and nephews in Canada, Portugal, France and Switzerland. He is now in the company of his father Alfredo and mother Virgina, sister Deolinda, who took on the role of his mother after Virgina passed away when he was only 2, sisters Palmira and Aida, brothers Antonio and Manuel, brothers in law Casimiro, Manuel, Jaime and Clemente.
Constanca, Clara and Cristina were the center of his universe. Cristina and Clara were his “stars of the universe” and “beautiful flowers in paradise”, but when Angelina and Julia came along they became his new found stars and flowers. He became the devoted Avo that did everything for them. Many times he would gladly stop watching his beloved Portuguese channel so they could watch cartoons. He was a great father in law to Edgar. He was glad to finally have a partner to enjoy his love of wine; often boasting that his homemade wine was pure and made without mixtures or chemicals.
When traveling to Portugal, there was always a big welcoming party upon his arrival with family and friends often changing their schedules to make sure they were available to attend. Gatherings would always involve tables full of food, many bottles of wine, and a house full of laughter. The love he had for his family and friends was immense.
He worked in the road construction industry for most of his adult life. He worked tirelessly in a physically demanding job to make sure his family had everything they needed. He took pride in his work, but would advise the next generation to go to school and not discard any opportunities to improve their lives.
He was a soft-spoken man that never had a harsh word to say about anyone. He could be counted on to help those in need in any way he could. He had an undeniable charm about him that drew others to want to be in his presence.
He will be missed.
