RONALD EASTMAN

Obituary of RONALD GLENN EASTMAN

RONALD GLENN EASTMAN On January 2, 2016 beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away at the age of 66. Along with his wife Anne, he is survived by his sons, Cameron (Jan, Mathew and Collin), Graham (Shelly) step children, Norm Paisley (Robin, Caleb, Isabella and Ty), Kerri Ginter (Stu, Brianna, Emma and Joshua) and his brother Barry (Cheryl) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Arnold and Helen (nee Simpson) and brothers, Robert and Brian. Ron cherished his family and took pride in the logistics business SDR International Freight he built alongside his two partners, Scott and Dave. Ron grew up in East Selkirk and was a founding member of the St. Clements Volunteer Fire Department serving for 34 years retiring as the deputy fire chief. He will be remembered by the many fire fighters he trained and worked alongside in the Mutual Aid District. Ron also served as President of the Highland Gathering held each year in Selkirk, Manitoba and represented the organization for many years on the Selkirk Arts Council. Later, Ron moved to Winnipeg after marrying Anne. In 2008, they moved to Niverville, Manitoba and built their forever home. He was a kind, generous and loving man and will be sadly missed. Ron loved to cook and enjoyed when family and friends visited at the house or the lake. He prepared all the turkey dinners (with all the fixings), an annual fish fry and his home baked beans were requested for every potluck dinner. Family meals always ended with cinnamon swirls and pies with extra for everyone to take home. Summers were spent with the pontoon boat, casting his fishing line and giving rides and tours. Ron was an ardent Blue Bomber Fan and enjoyed sharing this passion with his son Cam. He loved to putter and was always one of the first to show up to lend a helping hand. He was a wonderful dancer and always up for a polka. Ron loved to travel, meet people, see places and always had the time to listen, share a story and make you laugh. We would like to thank all his care givers who helped him through his long courageous struggle. The staff at Cancer Care Manitoba and the Health Sciences Centre were amazing. Funeral service will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with Fr. René Chartier (St. Adolphe Parish) officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Manitoba Cancer Care or Manitoba Kidney Foundation.
