ANNE PISMENNY

Obituary of ANNE PISMENNY

ANNE PISMENNY With deep sadness in our hearts we mourn the passing of Anne Pismenny, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, January 3, 2016. The youngest of eight children born into a pioneer Manitoba family, her values of kindness, perseverance and hard work carried her through to her 95th year; her strength of character, determination and love of life leaving a lasting memory on all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband Fred of 62 years; her infant son Johnny; all her siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. For twenty-two years, she was employed with the Canadian Wheat Board where she impressed her associates and visiting international dignitaries with her creative culinary skills. Upon her retirement, she fulfilled her life-long dream of travelling to the countries she had read about as a child in a one room prairie school house. Anne was a founding member of St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, an active participant in the Women’s League and the church choir. She loved the outdoors, gardening, mushroom and blueberry picking at the cottage and instilled an enduring respect for nature in her family. A loving, generous and kind soul, Nana/Baba taught us children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to cherish the gift of family. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, January 8, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue at 10:00 a.m. with interment at Holy Family Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
