MICHAEL PETRYNKO
Michael Petrynko passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital on January 3, 2016 at the age 91.
Survived by his wife Ethel of 62 years and his son Brian (Sandra), daughter Beverley (Walter Gaba), grandchildren Jennifer and Nick Basarowich, Jerry and Natalia Gaba and Michael Petrynko, along with 7 great grandchildren and 5 sisters.
Born in Mountain Road, MB, Michael spent his younger years in Franklin, MB. He served in the Second World War at the age of 18 and in the Governor General Foot Guards in Ottawa. He was also in the Tank Corps in the United Kingdom within Continental Europe.
He worked at CP Rail for 44 years and retired in 1985 as a Supervisor.
A very special thank you to Father Bashutskyy and Father Darren for administering last rights and for the many prayers they said. Also a special thank you to Seven Oaks Hospital Staff for their care, Sister Servants Mary Immaculate for their assistance, Dr Andrea Babick and Dr. Taras Babick for their medical, moral and spiritual support.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day Street on Friday January 8 at 10:30 am. A private interment will be held after a light lunch.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s Memory to the Lubov Foundation, Sister Servants Mary Immaculate or St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church.
