ANGELA MARGARET SHOZDA
Peacefully surrounded by her family, on January 11. 2016, Angela Shozda of Winnipeg passed away.
She will lovingly be remembered by nieces Patricia Ferrino (Yeo) and Husband Anthony Ferrino and children Jonathan and Eric. Denise A. Usmani (Yeo), children Gregory and Cynthia. Mark and wife Sharon (Farmer) Yeo, children Amanda and Justin. Angela has numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Anne Shozda, two sisters Frances Yeo, Stella Shozda and two brothers in infancy.
Angie’s extended family were her many friends who loved her deeply.
As a young girl Angie worked at Eatons, later she worked for many years as a bookkeeper with the pipe and steamfitters union and later for the federal government. Angie’s bookkeeping and record keeping was impeccable.
She was an avid reader, sports enthusiast particularly in baseball, curling and hockey. She was a serious Bridge player and was looking forward to teaching the game to her new friends at River Ridge. She enjoyed photography and travel.
When retired Angie learned cake decorating and chocolate making and was well known for her marvelous cake and decorating creations. Every occasion birthdays, Christmas or Easter was graced with Angie’s Cakes which she tirelessly fashioned.
For many years her retreat was in their cabin at Lake Brereton in Lake of the Woods.
Angie had a special relationship with nature and loved animals particularly her 5 dogs over the years. She loved birds and looked forward to their songs beginning her day.
Angie lived life to the fullest looking forward to many more days on this earth to enjoy her new residence at River Ridge. However she also spoke of what God had in store for her that was a new journey.
Angie was choir director at Holy Ghost Church for many years, and later St Anthony of Padua. When young she often played the organ and enjoyed choir music of any kind.
Angie was a deep faith filled woman. As she dealt with health challenges she knew that God would let her know what she should do and when her time was to join her loved ones. Any major decisions Angie made were done with prayer and reflection. A lady of goodness faith friendship and love, Angie will be remembered fondly by all who she came in contact with.
Special thanks to the loving, compassionate care received from the medical team at Seven Oaks Hospital, both in Emergency and ICU, nurses, physicians and all who ministered to her.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Avenue, West Kildonan with interment to follow in Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Angie’s memory to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 1M3 or St. Anthony of Padua Church attention CWL.
