Obituary of ERNIE EDDIE KOLSUN
ERNIE EDDIE KOLSUN
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Husband, Tato and Gido on January 19, 2016 at the age of 76. Ernie warmed the hearts of many and cared unconditionally for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eleanor; his children, Wendell (Sheila), Melanie (Brent) Thompson, Garett (Wendy); his grandchildren, Kurt, Eric, Aaron, Brittanie, Kiera, Liam, Christian, Blake and Jessica; his sister Stella Sapach; his brothers Walter and Ted (Ollia). He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Lena.
Ernie was born and raised in the Valley River/Fork River area where he learned a great work ethic and a love of nature. In 1961, Ernie and Eleanor married and moved to Winnipeg. He got a job with Canada Post where he worked for 30 years. He retired early at the age of 55 and spent his retirement years enjoying his family. Ernie was always there when his family needed him; whether it was babysitting his grandchildren, helping his children build a deck or help to renovate their home. He loved to hunt, fish, tend his garden and spend time at the farm. He loved to travel with his family and has been right across North America, Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.
All services will be held at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue. Prayers on Sunday, January 24, at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, January 25, at 10:30 a.m. with reception immediately following service. Entombment to follow at Holy Angel Mausoleum, Highway #1 east at Navin Road.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ernie, may do so to the St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund.
