Obituary of MIROSLAWA (MIRKA) MARIA BOROWSKI
MIROSLAWA (MIRKA) MARIA BOROWSKI
(NEE WILKOSZ)
October 6, 1927-February 24, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, Mama and Babcia at the age of 88 with her family by her side at Seven Oaks Hospital. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Tomek; Daughter, Dorothy; son-in-law, Brian and her grandchildren, Robert, Chris, Ashley and Michelle; her sister Daniela and niece Grazyna and family in Poland. She was predeceased by her sister Bozena (Piotr) and niece Ela.
Mirka was born in Poznan, Poland and had a privileged life until the start of The Second World War. Her family was forcibly displaced to Radom, Poland. She lost her father at the age of 14. She later returned to Poznan with her mother and sisters. At the end of the war, she met Tomek on a train. They kept in touch only by letters for many years. They finally reunited and married in 1959 and settled in Brandon, MB where they made many longtime friends and where Dorothy was born. In 1965 they moved to Winnipeg.
Mirka was very proud of her Polish heritage and passed on the language, cuisine and traditions to her family. She loved her collection of Polish books and enjoyed listening to Polish music with Tomek. We will miss her rhymes she had for any situation. She was a devout Catholic and faithfully recited the Rosary daily. She spent her life caring for others and will be deeply missed as she touched so many lives with her kind spirit. Mirka had promised to God to help children with leprosy and completed a final promise during her hospital stay.
The family would like to thank Drs. Finlayson and McCannell and the medical staff at Seven Oaks as well as the Paramedics. Thank you to Fathers Alfred, Dominic and Daniel for the Sacraments, prayers and visits and to Helen for spiritual support at Seven Oaks.
Thank you to all of our family and friends for your calls, visits and prayers. We would appreciate your continued prayers for Mirka. Zofia, thank you for your constant support. Thank you to all the pallbearers for their kind support at this difficult time. Although we are a very small family, we are blessed with many longtime friends who we consider part of our family.
Viewing and Rosary prayers will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
Mirka’s life had been affected by heart disease, cancer and her special desire to help those with leprosy. She was never one to ask for anything, but should anyone be considering making a donation in her memory, those charities would be very special to her.
Wieczny odpoczynek racz jej dac Panie.
