Obituary of BERNARD (BUNNY) WALUS
BERNARD (BUNNY) WALUS
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dearly beloved Husband, Father, Father-in-Law, Grandfather and Uncle “Bunny” to the rest of his family and friends. Bunny passed away at Holy Family Personal Care Home on March 5th 2016 at the age of 86 after a full and happy life of family and friends.
Bunny was predeceased by his son Lawrence (Laurie), parents Casimir & Josephine, sister Nellie and husband Stanley Bernas, sister Adeline and husband Michael Sobie.
Bunny is survived by his wife Jean of 65 years, son Ken and wife Laurie, grandchildren Ashley and Colin, son Tom and daughter-in-law Patricia Walus of New Brunswick.
Bunny was born and raised in Winnipeg and worked as a machinist at the C.P.R. Weston Shops until his retirement in 1986 after 42 years of service.
He was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and he will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A lucky few of us were able to call him a Husband, Father and Grandfather who gave us unfailing support and all of his love in so many ways. To many others he was Uncle Bunny, or just Bunny.
All of our memories of him are fond. He left us with much for which we are grateful. We are all better people for having known him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Father Dominic Yuen on Thursday March 10th at 11:00am at St Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Avenue, with cremation to follow. A family burial will take place at a later date. Pallbearers will be Julian Bernas, Andrew Ploszay, Richard Sobie, Colin Walus, Ken Walus and Tom Walus.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations if so desired can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, Cancercare Manitoba, Feed the Hungry or a charity of your choice in Dad’s memory.
To know him was to love him. “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” John 11: 25-26.
