Obituary of MARY NAIRN
MARY CATHERINE NAIRN (nee Flood)
On Monday, March 28, 2016, Mary, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, passed away at the age of 89 at the Maples Care Centre.
She is survived by her daughters Linda Wall, Ida (Bill) Hearn, Gail (Richard) Dawybida, and Heather (Tom) Mosbrucker, son Patrick (Linda) Chapman, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn a sister, Patricia McKenzie, sister-in-law Bonnie Flood and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Leonard J. Chapman, son Leonard, daughter Rita Hill, grandson Chris Wall and her 10 brothers.
Mary was born in Forget, SK on August, 12, 1926. Several years later, Mary’s family moved to Winnipeg.
In 1945 she married Leonard J. Chapman and soon after they started their family of 5 girls and 2 boys.
In 1957, Mary relocated to Brandon, MB, where she became a Nurse’s Assistant at the Assiniboine Hospital. After her retirement, Mary spent countless hours volunteering at Fairview Home.
Mary loved birds, flowers, many trips to Dogtooth Lake and her dog Tammy.
Her love for and desire to be close to her family caused her to relocate back to Winnipeg in 1993 where for the past 23 years, Mary has been cherished by family and friends. She has spent the last 5 of those years living at the Maples Care Centre.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Saturday, April 2 at 9:30 a.m. and a private family interment will follow at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Maples Care Centre for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
