Obituary of GERALD MARSHALL
GERALD (GERRY) LOVIL MARSHALL
JULY 25, 1937 – APRIL 5, 2016
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle on April 5, 2016 at the Victoria Hospital with his family by his side.
Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Leona, of 57 years and his children: daughters Karren (Doug) Mack, Kathi Marshall and son Kevin (Tammy) Marshall and grandchildren Jasmin, Taylor, Braedan and Tiernan and his loyal dog Jasper He also leaves to mourn his sisters Rita Ayres and Loretta Patterson and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Aldea Ayres and Joseph Marshall and sister Sylvia Goring; as well as his son Christopher Anthony Marshall and grandson Daylan Shea Damianakos-Marshall.
Gerry left school at an early age to work on construction and later became a milkman but after meeting his bride to be Leona he returned to school to receive his grade 12 where tried his hand at many professions and settled on a job with the railway and this took him away from his wife and family. So again he furthered his education and became a certified Power Engineer and worked at the Winnipeg School Division until he took an early retirement.
He loved camping and fishing and going on summer vacations with the family travelling throughout the US and Canada. Gerry loved the arts, music, theatre, opera, musicals, movies, travel and politics.
Prior to a back injury he loved to play golf, hockey and baseball. He loved vegetable gardening. His passion was cooking and eating of course especially cabbage rolls, spaghetti and Chinese food. He loved family dinners and get togethers including barbecuing, heart to heart talks with all his children and grandchildren. Family pets were always included in family functions.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
For those who desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
