Obituary of AGNES FRANCZUK
AGNES FRANCZUK
(nee Jadwiga Radocaj)
June 15, 1923 – April 6, 2016
It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Agnes Franczuk; mother, baba and great baba; at her home of 45 years in which she lovingly cared for until her death.
Agnes was born in Croatia; she was the oldest of a large family of eight siblings. During the war she was relocated to Germany where she met her husband Peter, a Polish soldier. They married in Germany on March 3rd, 1946. After the war they were able to start their family and in 1949 they moved to Canada to start a new life. Mom and Dad worked hard to provide for their family and Mom would work evening shifts to help out. Mom endured many hardships in her life and her perseverance taught us important lessons about strength and appreciation. Mom enjoyed cooking (and was great at it!); the kitchen was the heart of the home and no one could leave the house hungry. She loved working in the garden and enjoyed showcasing her vegetables and flowers, even as late as last summer. After a hard day’s work Agnes would often enjoy an apricot brandy and Sprite, a tradition which we remember fondly. Agnes was a long time parishioner of St. Alphonsus Church for 65 years.
Agnes leaves behind a large family; children Mary (Norman) Tetreault, Peter (Claire) Franczuk, and Magdalene Franczuk. She also leaves behind grandchildren Anne Marie (Ken) Hall, David (Brenda) Tetreault, Bryan (Samantha) Tetreault, Christine (Stuart) Strijack, Bernice (Kerric) Schick, Diane (Myron) Wiebe, and Raymond (Rachel) Franczuk, as well as eleven great-grandchildren.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1989.
