Obituary of LUIS MANUEL TAVARES
LUIS MANUEL TAVARES
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that on April 13, 2016, Luis Manuel Tavares passed away surrounded by loved ones at the age of 60 years. Luis is survived by his wife of 40 years Maria Dos Anjos Tavares, mother Gilda Tavares, daughter Anna Paula Tavares, sons Nelson Amaral (Jenn), Kevin Tavares (Nicole) and grandchildren Rhys and Chace Amaral; sisters, Connie, Fatima, Lurdes and Eduarda as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Luis was born on March 5, 1956 in San Miguel Azores. Along with his 4 sisters, Luis attended school and worked alongside his father until the family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1973. Once in Canada, Luis gained employment with Borland Construction (waterworks division); followed by Nelson River Construction until most recent. Although his career required working in less than pleasant weather conditions and was physically demanding, Luis loved going to work; more importantly he loved what he did.
Three years after moving to Winnipeg, Luis married his childhood sweetheart and started their forty year journey; which later blessed them with three beautiful children (Anna Paula, Nelson and Kevin). Aside from ensuring his family had everything they needed, he prided himself in raising children with the same strong family values “family first, then the rest.”
Apart from work and family, Luis engaged in several hobbies. These hobbies included fishing, camping, working on his truck, church activities, and spending time with his dog, Hurley. Luis will always be known for his kind heart, willingness to help, and love for his family and friends.
“Take care of yourself, and keep peace in the family” – Luis Tavares
