Obituary of DANIEL MANDRICK

DANIEL MANDRICK MARCH 26, 1925 - APRIL 22, 2016 Daniel is survived by his daughter Judy Stoyko, son Grant Mandrick (Bernadette), and grandchildren: Andrew and Nadine Stoyko; Rebecca, David, Alexander Mandrick; and Sarah Boyd. Daniel is predeceased by his wife Olga (1980), mother Magdalena (1963), father William (1966), son- in-law Raymond (2007), and all of his seven brothers and sisters. Daniel was born and raised in Winnipeg. After WWll he played hockey in London, England for the British National League's Greyhounds, winning the London Cup. From 1947-1949 Daniel played defense and left wing in the IHL for the Toledo Mercurys. The team was National Senior Open champs, Western U.S. hockey champs, and IHL champs. After retiring from hockey Daniel worked for the CPR in Winnipeg. He was president of the Carman's union for western Canada in the 1960's. Sports was still apart of his life. He coached youth hockey, bowled, curled, and was avid fisherman. Daniel was a founding member of the Arlington Fishing Club. Over the years he shared a plethora of hockey stories and opinions with CJOB, the Winnipeg Free Press, and sports announcers in the US. Thank you to the 5th floor staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their tireless efforts in addressing Daniel's many health issues over the last four years. A special thank you to his life long buddy Emil for his ongoing friendship and support. A dear friend to the end. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service is to follow at a later date. ln lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission or a charity of your choice.
