Auntie Vi was a very kind, intelligent, and remarkable lady. It was a privilege to get to know her, especially in her later years (after she returned to Winnipeg from Toronto).
I recall with warmth the long talks we had each week - always stories about members of our extended family, whom she loved. This love was instilled early on in her life, through the example of her mother, who had a deep and abiding faith in God and a very gentle, loving and caring heart.
All the sisters and brothers of this family cared deeply for each other and respected each other.
Auntie Vi did not have a great need for travel, since she enjoyed being at home and caring for her home and garden. Although she had enjoyed special trips to P.E.I. and California and Ontario, she said she preferred "home" the best.
Auntie Vi was a very fit individual- riding her bicycle to and from the Refit Centre, going for walks, and always, always, enjoying the outdoors ... every single day. When she fell and broke her hip, she told me that as she crawled her way from the lane to the back door, she was pulling up weeds as she went. I had to laugh - a true Szadorski ... thinking about the garden.
Another of her passions was children - she noticed and appreciated the comments and actions of little ones in the neighbourhood and she also had fond recollections of all of her nephews and nieces (and grand-nephews and grand-nieces) when they were little. Stories of children in the news affected her deeply.
We were very blessed to have Vi in our family. She will always be in our hearts.
I have been missing the visits with her each Sunday. I am grateful to God that He placed her in my life.
