I am totally shocked this evening (Sept 3, 2016) to read Bertha's name in the Retired Teachers' Association's newsletter. I had no idea Bertha was ill. I had spoken with her not too long ago by telephone.
I enjoyed having Bertha as a colleague at King George V School in Norwood for many years. For some years I lived downtown and she would sometimes offer me a ride since she was driving that way. She was always a pleasant person and once I retired, I made sure I stayed in touch with Bertha when I visited Winnipeg or via Christmas phone calls or letters.
My sympathy to Dorothy and Robert - your mother was a fine lady, but then, you both already know that.
