We lost Robert Speer only a few days ago, but have missed him for some time. Missed his kindly presence, reassuring voice, his smile and his laughter. He has said his farewells but yet it is still very sad and hard to let him go.
Winston Churchill once said " we make a living by what we get, but a life by what we give " With his wife Anne, Robert made a life.
My earliest memories are of waiting for my Uncle Bob and Auntie Anne to come visit and as I got older, Bob's influence and friendship never ended and helped make me into the person I am today. For that, I will forever be grateful and will never forget.
Now, we must settle to look forward to that fine day when we will see Bob again, all weariness gone, clear of mind, strong and sure, smiling again and the sorrow of this parting gone forever.
