With many tears and heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected, but peaceful passing of our dear husband, tata and dziadziu, in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Health Sciences Centre.
Born on January 28, 1937 in Babince, Poland, Zbigniew was the oldest of three children.
He was predeceased by his little brother Marian (3 years) and his father Jozef (1953) in Poland. With his mother Olga (predeceased in 2008) and sister Lusia (predeceased in 2007), dad came to Winnipeg in December 1958, where he met and married our mother
Zofia, and raised their three children Terisa, Kristen and Zenon.
Zbigniew worked at the Misericordia Hospital for 42 yrs until his retirement in 2002. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, taxidermy, blueberry and mushroom picking and most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren in Pinawa.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 54 years, Zofia, children Terisa (John) Gigiel, Kristen (Kurt) Marchak, and Zenon (Trudy) Wolkowicz. Grandchildren Jessica, Micheal and Wesley Marchak and Kyla and Joey Wolkowicz, as well as brother-in-law Richard
Bordolinski, nephews Victor and Mark Bordolinski, and niece Margaret Trager (Rob, Katie, Riley).
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with viewing and Rosary half an hour prior. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Zenon Wolkowicz, John Gigiel, Kurt Marchak, Victor Bordolinski, Micheal Marchak and Wesley Marchak. Honourary Pallbearers will be Joey Wolkowicz and Mark Bordolinski.
Thank you to the paramedics and medical staff at HSC emergency.
