Obituary of MAY IRENE GARRETT
MAY IRENE GARRETT
With great sadness we announce the passing of May Irene Garrett after a short valiant battle with cancer on June 20, 2016 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the young age of 73 years.
May was born on December 25, 1942, a Christmas Baby! She attended schools in Old Kildonan and West Kildonan until 1958. She is survived by her husband Wayne Garrett and just recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. They were blessed with 5 children who all survive her, Kathy (Robert), Barbara, Colleen (Jack), Maureen (Robert), Duane (Donna), 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Pat (Joe) and Lorene (Ken) and 4 brothers John (Nancy), Donald, Robert (Louise) and David (Erica), mother May and brother-in-law Len Garrett and partner Marianne Burt along with family and sister-in-law Marilyn Stewart (Bruce) and family. She was predeceased by her father Herbert Conolly and her sister-in-law Marilyn Garrett.
May had a gift for making many friends and has retained those friendships throughout her years. May loved spending time at her cottage in Beausejour; she loved her family, friends and her dog Molly. May loved to help whenever she could. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and instilled family values, commitment and a wonderful work ethic in all of her children.
The family would like to extend a thank you to 7A West at the St. Boniface Hospital for their kind and compassionate care, Dr. Hugh Taylor and Associates, Dr. Christian LaRiviere, Chaplain Louise L. Saurette and Dr. Harris (Concordia Hospital).
As per May's wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, Winnipeg Humane Society or charity of your choice.
Heaven gained a beautiful soul.
