Obituary of EARL MAY
EARL MAY
AUGUST 15, 1937 – JUNE 25, 2016
Earl passed away peacefully at home at the age of 78 years following a lengthy illness.
Born in Bowsman, Manitoba, Earl was the seventh of nine children to Everett and Jean May (Marquis) and spent his childhood on the farm in Ninette. He met Teressa in Killarney and married on November 20, 1965. They made their home in Winnipeg where they raised their two sons and recently celebrated 50 years together.
He was an accomplished tradesman and worked on numerous projects throughout the province and at home. Earl will be remembered for his ingenuity, resourcefulness and determination: creatively inventing solutions with materials he had on hand. Whatever needed fixing, he could do it as long as he had a cup of coffee close by.
Earl enjoyed spending as much time with his family as he could. Whether he was tinkering away at gadgets in the garage, building a contraption in the backyard, reading a mystery novel, or working on the daily Sudoku, he was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a gentle man with a kind heart and will be greatly missed.
Earl leaves to mourn his wife, Teressa; his children Jason and Richard (Fairy); sisters and brothers Mary Maxwell (Lynton – deceased), Murray May, Florence Tobey (Al), and Allan May; sisters-in-law Ruth May (John – deceased), Susan Dietrich (Robert), brother-in-law Jim Fox (Terri), and sister-in-law Jackie Ramsey (Pat); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Everett and Jean May, brothers and sisters Fred May (Kay), Ella Roy (Dave), and Phillip May; parents-in-law Russell and Mary Fox; and brother-in-law Bill Fox.
Our family wishes to thank Dr. Kristen Heinrichs and Nurse April at Prairie Trail at the Oaks and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 1:30 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Earl’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
